Village Park Shelter in Long Point, IL

The Village Park Shelter was built by the active Lion’s Club and is used by the 4-H Club and for many family reunions.  It also is the host for summer activities in the village, such as the centennial of the village in 1975 and the Fourth of July for many years which included greased pole and pig activities, ice cream socials, carnival rides, strong man competitions, baseball, softball, water fights, petting zoos, and parades for both adults and kids.  The Legion Auxiliary serves lunch and supper here with homemade pies and pie contests, followed by fireworks at Long Point High School grounds where the Township Shed now stands.  People came from miles around to enjoy the activities in Long Point.
